Police in Tampa discover pups inside a closed suitcase

After receiving assistance from two Tampa police officers, the mother of seven puppies and the puppies may finally relax.

The two cops reportedly noticed a dog running with her pups in a crowded neighborhood close to Dale Mabry Highway, according to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. The two cops took the duo to the humane society and then went back to where they had initially discovered the dogs to look into it.

For the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, it was a first. Officers from the Tampa Police Department discovered a mother dog and her youngster roaming in a busy neighborhood and close to the highway, and they took them to the shelter.

However, when the police arrived back at the scene, they made a startling find. They heard something and noticed a pink suitcase outside a holiday property.

Humane Society of Tampa Bay said on Facebook, "After returning to the location to check further, they spotted a closed suitcase with squeals coming from within it, outside a vacation rental."

They discovered six pups tucked inside when they opened it up.

It quickly became apparent that the mother of these six puppies was the dog and puppy they had discovered earlier.

The workers of the shelter commented, "We are very pleased they came back to the scene to save these puppies. "Our incredible team is taking care of all seven of our 5-week-old puppies in our puppy nursery while mom, a Terrier mix, is here relaxing."

The puppies, which were dehydrated when they arrived but are now all doing well, are believed to be roughly 5 weeks old.

The puppies will be available for adoption once they are of an appropriate age.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay's website has information about adoptions.
